The influence of Muslim immigration on socio-political processes in Europe: the experience of France. (Review)

The review examines the phenomenon of the long-term existence of the Muslim community in France – the most numerous in Western Europe. The role of Islam in secular French society is revealed. The stages of the establishing of the Muslim community and the organizations created during this socio-cultural process are shown. The special attention is allotted to the development of the Muslim community in the 2015–2020s, when part of the French Muslim citizens began to participate more actively in all spheres of the country's life. At the same time, there was a marginalization of some Muslim youth and the spread of radical Islamism among them. It is described in detail the reinforcement of influence of the Muslim diaspora in socio-political processes, which caused the separation of French society and the tendency to its transformation.
