Ecology of Labor of Customs Service Officers Conducting Inspection of Fumigated Goods
The spread of insect pests with commodity flows can lead to enormous losses in agriculture and lead to catastrophic changes in the ecological situation of individual regions and even countries. In light of the environmental threats associated with insect pests, it is important to ban the import of infected goods. Control over potentially dangerous goods in Russia is entrusted to employees of the Federal Customs Service. However, due to the possible treatment of such cargoes with gaseous insecticides or fumigants, there is a high risk to the health and even the lives of officials conducting the inspection. The complex of problems caused by these circumstances is considered in a special field of knowledge – the ecology of work, which, in turn, relates to human ecology, that is, the interaction of individuals with the outside world. Within the framework of this theoretical approach, the article analyzes the risks to the safety of customs officers during the inspection of containers treated with fumigants. The author also developed a portable fumigant detector, which increases the safety of customs officers.
