Russian-Chinese co-operation in the sphere of ecology in the Far East border region

The article deals with the cooperation between Russia and China in the border territories of the Far East in the field of environmental protection, describes the environmental policy of the two countries and its implementation at the regional level, analyses the problems and prospects of environmental bilateral cooperation. The issues of Russian-Chinese co-operation in the Far Eastern border territories in preventing environmental incidents and measures to eliminate them are covered in detail. A description of the joint initiatives of Russia and China in the border areas regarding environmental protection is provided. Negative ecological incidents on the Amur River and their consequences for the local populations of both countries are examined. The author concludes that there is a need to expand ecological cooperation between Russia and China and to develop a coordinated strategy for addressing the pressing environmental issues in the Far Eastern border region.
