Central banks digital currency: Principles, potential and challenges

The article discusses a new digital form of money intended for use as a legal tender. The prerequisites for the digitalization of money and the main provisions of the central bank's digital currency concept are discussed. The features and potential of this currency are characterized in terms of the efficiency of payment transactions, ensuring liquidity and financial stability. It is noted that currently most countries of the world are studying the possibilities of issuing a digital currency of the central bank, developing its concept or have already started implementing pilot projects.
