Housing precarity in developed countries: a review of research and an assessment of their significance for Russia

Housing precarity, along with labor precarity, is becoming an integral part of the modern risk society in the “age of anxiety”. The popularization of research in this area in recent years shows that scientists from different countries are increasingly actualizing the problem of housing precarity in the context of instability of the housing situation of certain segments of the population. At the same time, the results of research in Europe show that both tenants and homeowners themselves are in precarious housing conditions. A study of housing precarity in the United States demonstrates the uneven territorial distribution of this problem. Researchers from Australia have come to similar conclusions, but at the level of individual cities. The results obtained and the conclusions made by various research teams can form the basis for measuring housing precarity in Russia.
