Mapping the city's heritage as a tool for preserving and using its historical and cultural potential (methodological approaches and practical implementation)

The task of creating maps of the cultural and natural heritage of cities is considered as a kind of encyclopedic cartographic work summarizing the results of a comprehensive study of the cultural and natural heritage of the city. Currently, there are practically no such maps, and heritage as an area of urban life, its qualitative indicator and the potential for the development of the city is not adequately reflected. Moreover, official statistics reflect only to a small extent the real potential of the city's historical, cultural and natural heritage. The tasks of creating such cartographic works, approaches to heritage mapping are formulated and samples of created maps for small towns and medium-sized historical cities are demonstrated.
