Marginal zones in the context of digital city development
The article presents the results of a theoretical study of marginal spaces in the context of a digital city. The approaches to studying marginal spaces are analyzed: sociological, spatial and technological. The features of digitalization of the urban environment, including marginal territories, are considered. Recommendations for integrating marginal spaces into the digital urban environment are proposed. The authors highlight the most successful mechanisms for integrating marginal spaces through the use of Big Data, the use of smart sensors and the creation of digital twins. The authors identified the likelihood of developing two scenarios for marginal urban spaces: a positive one, which assumes success in updating the territories in question without external participation, and a negative scenario of degradation, which requires active action from the authorities and society.
Keywords: marginal urban spaces; digitalization; population
