Identity and personal identification in the context of digitalization
The article is devoted to the consideration of the issue of identity and the right to identity of a person in the conditions of application of modern technologies. The author draws attention to the fact that although the right to identity is accepted in many states, the level of its protection and recognition varies greatly, and the problems associated with identity can be very complex. The use of digital technologies and social networks, accompanied by the virtualization of social relations, affects and can change the formation of identity, and personal identification acquires new features. Moreover, the latter is important both for protecting privacy, preventing identity theft and cyberbullying, and for building citizens' relationships with state authorities or in commercial transactions. In this regard, it is proposed to introduce a new subjective right – “the right to personal identity in social networks” – the subject of which is the individual. At the same time, it is necessary to emphasize the need to maintain a balance between human rights and the interests of the state.
